Our Story
Little Oaks Preschool exists to provide a place where children in our community are welcome to grow in a loving and Jesus-filled environment. We hope to become a place where children are free to be children and learn in ways that best suit their learning styles. In our faith-based education, we will focus on teaching the “whole child” by focusing on their physical, social-emotional, cognitive, communication and language development in a play-based learning environment.
The goal of Little Oaks Preschool is to pour into the next generation in a transformed and renewed space. Our community partner, Grace Monroe has always had a focus on reaching the next generation, and Little Oaks Preschool gives us a wonderful opportunity to pour into the children of Monroe and surrounding communities in a way that teaches them to love God, and love others. The location of the new building is right at the entrance to the downtown Monroe area, and we hope that the preschool will be in a location that welcomes all members of our community and serves them well.
Little Oaks Preschool will be licensed by the state program: Bright From the Start and will require its teachers and staff to go through a certain number of hours of training each year. Bright from the Start has high standards to make sure that our preschool is up to state codes and is running to the best of its ability, and will complete bi-annual check-ins to ensure top quality of the preschool.
The Owner of the Little Oaks Preschool, Mrs. Cedar Hall, has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Masters in Teaching, focusing on Birth - Five and an emphasis on Special Education. Our Director, Mrs. Shelby Moss, has an Associates Degree in Elementary Education and five years of experience in the childcare field. Cedar and Shelby bring with them teaching experience in the public school system, private preschool, and in daycare. They have knowledge of the latest teaching techniques, developmental research, and the recommended effective curriculum for young children. Little Oaks has hired a wonderful team of teachers to implement these techniques in the preschool, share her knowledge with the teachers during bi-monthly staff meetings/training, and create a God-filled environment for families and staff of the preschool.
